Collaborating with Vietnamese students from Hanoi University of Civil Engineering to design an intervention in Hanoi’s Old Quarter at the intersection of Hàng Bum Street and the vibrant Ta Hien (Beer Street). The site is characterised by constant movement with pedestrians, motorcycles, cars, and delivery vehicles, and is only minutes from the historic Hàng Bum temples. Historically, Hàng Bum was a weaving street producing bags, sails, and baskets, a legacy that continues to shape the area's cultural identity.
Our goal was to create a peaceful retreat from the bustling streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.
By incorporating natural vegetation, we aimed to mitigate noise and create a calming green space for the community. The site functions as both a local park and a cultural hub, featuring a market and a workshop that highlight the history of Hàng Bum. This combination of tranquility, nature, and heritage offers a space for relaxation while connecting visitors to the area’s rich past.
The design process integrated various software, including Rhino for 3D modeling, Lumion for visual rendering, and Illustrator and Photoshop for documentation
